- Biographical / Historical:
Burns Singer, 1928-1964, was born James Hyman Singer in New York City on 29 August 1928. He grew up in Scotland and studied composition at the University of Glasgow. He worked in a marine biology lab and began publishing poetry and literary journalism in the 1950s. He died in Plymouth, England, on 8 September 1964.
