Barclay Walker, 1859-1927, was an Indiana composer. He was born in Millersburg, Ohio. He began his musical career as a clerk in a music store in Indianapolis, but by the 1890s he was composing and publishing his own music. On April 30, 1893 he married Olive Anderson, 1869-1948, but the couple divorced on December 6, 1911. Walker's most famous composition was the World War I bestseller "Long Boy," or "Goodbye, Ma! Goodbye, Pa! Goodbye, Mule, with Yer Old Hee-Haw!," published in 1917. He is also known for setting the poems of James Whitcomb Riley to music. In addition to his career as a composer, he taught piano in Indianapolis for several years. He died in Indianapolis on March 22, 1927.

Mary Josephine (Walker) Wolff, 1897-1982, is the daughter of Barclay Walker and his wife Olive A. Walker. She was born in Indianapolis on June 7th, 1897. At times, she collaborated with her father on musical compositions, but she also worked as a French instructor. She died on May 2, 1982 and is buried in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
