Biographical / Historical:

Roger Zelazny, 1937-1995, was a science fiction writer best known for his series The Chronicles of Amber.

Doubleday has published much of Zelazny's work, including the five-volume Amber series.

Scope and Content:

The Zelazny mss., 1966-1976, consist of the letters of science fiction writer Roger Zelazny, 1937-1995, to editors at Doubleday and Company. Most of the correspondence concerns contracts, revisions of copy-edited manuscripts, and design and texts of book jackets for that series. Zelazny also discusses his writings and publications with other houses, as well as ideas for future novels. Titles mentioned in the correspondence include Lord of Light, Creatures of Light and Darkness, Nine Princes of Amber, The Guns of Avalon, The Hand of Oberon, The Courts of Chaos, Deus Irae, and Sign of the Unicorn.

Included in the collection is a copy of the text for the jacket flap for Sign of the Unicorn corrected by Zelazny. Seven photographs of Zelazny complete the collection.
