Background

Biographical / Historical:

William Trevor Cox, 1928-2016, who wrote under the name William Trevor, was an Irish novelist and short story writer. He was born in Mitchelstown, co. Cork, and was educated at Trinity College in Dublin in the late 1940s. His works include The Old Boys (1964), The Boarding House (1965), The Love Department (1967), Mrs Eckdorf in O᾽Neill's Hotel (1969), Fools of Fortune (1983), Reading Turgenev (1991), Excursions in the Real World (1993), and The Story of Lucy Gault (2002).
