Biographical / Historical:

J. Albert Robbins Jr., born December 5, 1914, was an Indiana University English professor specializing in American literature and bibliography for 35 years. He served as Communications Officer in the U.S. Navy (1942-1945) and later became Lieutenant Commander. Robbins was a member for over 3 decades of the Bibliography Committee of the Modern Language Association of America and of the American Literature Section of the MLA. He was a compiler of the MLA Annual Bibliography and the bibliographical lists published in American Literature and was also an editor at American Literary Scholarship. J. Albert Robbins died March 4, 1992.

Biographical materials include miscellaneous correspondence and other biographical materials related to Robbins. Events includes exhibit materials from the exhibits Three Centuries of American Poetry and Printing and the Mind of Man. Edited works includes drafts and correspondence related to academic journals that Robbins edited. Scholarly works includes research, correspondence, and writings related to William Faulkner, Robert Frost, and Edgar Allan Poe.
