Background

Biographical / Historical:

Ruth C. Engs is a professor emeritus in Applied Health Science at Indiana University. Her research interests include alcohol education and drinking practices among college students, the Eugenics Movement, and Progressive Era health reform. She is currently writing a biography of Upton Sinclair as a health reformer.

Scope and Content:

The collection consists of two corrected typescript page proofs of Ruth Engs's published writings, The Eugenics Movement: An Encyclopedia and Historical Dictionary of the Progressive Era's Health Reform Movement. Correspondence, research materials, and edited drafts of works on Upton Sinclair are also included. A typescript of Conversations in the Abbey completes the collection.
