Background

Biographical / Historical:

The Gallery, an art gallery in Bloomington, Indiana, opened in 1968 to showcase the work of local artists and IU faculty. Rosemary Buehler Fraser, who created the venue, managed The Gallery until her death in 2009, when The Gallery closed. An accomplished businesswoman, chef, and gardener, Fraser prepared all of the food served at monthly exhibition openings at The Gallery. Fraser was also an integral part of commissioning several Bloomington landmarks, including the limestone bear sculptures in front of the Monroe County Public Library and the limestone water sculpture in front of City Hall.
