Background
- Biographical / Historical:
The Independent Turnverein of Indianapolis separated from the Socialer Turnverein in 1879 in order to disengage with the politics of the national organization and other local societies. They renovated space in the building of the Third Presbyterian Church on the corner of Ohio and Illinois before building a new facility at 902 N Meridian Street in 1914. The organization changed its name to the Independent Athletic Club in 1921 and later changed it again to the Hoosier Athletic Club.

Items include three photographs and one invitation. All items represent the location at the corner of Ohio and Illinois Streets.
