Background
- Biographical / Historical:
The Indiana University East student newspaper began as the Pioneer Press in 1973. It was written, edited, and published by students of Indiana University East with funds provided by the IU East Student Senate. The Pioneer Press continued through 1987 when the name changed to New Voice. New Voice ran from 1988 to 1995, at which time it challenged students to develop a new name and look for the paper. The paper was named The Pioneer from 1995 to 1996 and, in 1996, was once again named Pioneer Press. The last Pioneer Press owned by the Archives is from 1999. Indiana University East's current student newspaper is called The Howler and is published under the direction of Hali Cartee from the Office of Campus Life. The Howler run begins in 2008, and new issues are added to the collection as they are printed and distributed by Campus Life.
- Scope and Content:
