Background

Biographical / Historical:

Tower Quadrangle was built in 1959, but was renamed Nellie S. Teter Quadrangle in 1961 after the first woman to serve on the Indiana University Board of Trustees. Like many residence halls, Teter Quadrangle was built to house the increasing number of students enrolling at IU after World War II. Teter Quad was the first dormitory built for coeducational student living. The dorm consists of five buildings that include housing, dining services, lounges, offices, and areas for student studying and socializing.

The Nellie Showers Teter Quadrangle Student Government consists of a board of governors, vice governors, and other student elected officials. The Board of Governors is the legislative group of the student government with a governor representing one floor of the residence facility. The Board of Governors and student government members are elected officials who represent students throughout the residence facility, plan programming events, and represent the Teter Quad students in the Residence Hall Association and President's Council.
