Biographical / Historical:

The records in this collection pertain to the struggle between the Spanish and British for control of British Honduras (i.e., modern Belize) as a colony during the late 18th century.

Scope and Content:

The Latin American mss. British Honduras, 1774-1778, consists of two pieces. The first is a large, detailed map of the province of Yucata by Juan de Dios González. The other is a report from El Pardo in 1778 of a plan to win the Mosquito Indians from the British.
