Background
- Biographical / Historical:
Peter Batty was born in Sunderland, United Kingdom in 1931. Batty began his career as a feature writer of the Financial Times in 1954. From 1956-1958, he worked as a freelance journalist in the United States. In 1958, Peter returned to the United Kingdom where he served as a producer of British Broadcasting Corporation until 1963. At this time, he was appointed editor on BBC's TV Tonight. A year later Peter held the position of Executive Producer, Associate Head of Factual Programming at ATV London. Since 1968 he has been a chief executive of Peter Batty Productions.
- Scope and Content:
This collection consists of paper materials, video and audiotapes, and film all pertaining to the mini-series The Divided Union. This finding aid describes the paper materials in the collection. These papers include administrative records and production materials. The Administrative Files series (1987-1988) contains log receipts from Filmatic Laboratories Limited, specifically from the production of The Divided Union. The Production Files series (1986-1988) contains interview transcripts, shot lists, and sound reports for The Divdided Union.
