The collection consists of papers generated and received by the office of Senator Birch Bayh during his three terms (1963-1980) in the United States Senate representing the state of Indiana, including extensive papers from his legislative work, his chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments, his other Judiciary Committee work, his Senate and Presidential campaigns, and his extensive involvement in economic development in Indiana.

Consists of the papers of Congressman Lee Hamilton relating to his 34 years of service in the United States House of Representatives as Representative of the Ninth Congressional District of Indiana, including extensive files on Indiana projects and from his chairmanship of the Subcommittee on Europe and the Middle East of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The Post-Senate series of the Richard G. Lugar Senatorial Papers consists of files collected by Richard Lugar after his tenure as a United States Senator ended in 2012. In particular, it consists of documents related to his work at the Lugar Center and his continued work on many of the issues that had framed his Senate career.
