Frank Putnam was an Indiana University Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Before his retirement he served as director of the Division of Biological Sciences from 1965-1969. The collection contains five series including, Haurowitz Symposium, Haurowitz memorial records, Professional memberships, Subject files, and Awards.

Edward Grant, a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History and History and Philosophy of Science taught at Indiana University for over thirty years. This collection consists of 24.6 cubic of Edward Grant's papers. Consists of correspondence, research, drafts, publications, and course and lecture notes. By far the largest series in the collection is the Teaching series and includes materials from Grant's years teaching as a graduate student at the Univ. of Wisconsin and then later at Indiana. The bulk of the series, though, consists of folders relating to the courses he taught in the IU Dept. of History and Philosophy of Science. The Publications series contains information on many of Grant's publications, including his books Much ado about nothing and Source book in medieval science.

Charles W. Hagen was an Indiana University alumnus, administrator and professor of botany. The collection of his papers is organized into four series including correspondence, reports and subject files. Prominent in the subject files series are Hagen's faculty annual reports spanning 1946-1964. Frequent correspondents in the collection include former students John R. Allan and Ralph E. Alton.

The Oliver P. Field papers comprise 1 cubic foot spanning 1936-1953. The collection consists of manuscript drafts and research materials related to Field's unpublished work on the history of Indiana University during World War II. Field began gathering information for this manuscript during the war and began writing shortly afterward. Editing was in progress when Field died in 1953. There was not a clear consensus on how to handle the publication so the publisher dropped the work.

Newton P. Stallknecht was a professor of Philosophy, Comparative Literature, and Criticism as well as Director of the School of Letters. Collection includes his personal correspondence, files on comparative literature, information concerning the organizations and societies to which he belonged, materials from his time at Princeton and later activities as an alumnus, as well as information on his publications.

John Robert Moore was an English professor at Indiana University from 1922 to 1961. This collection consists of Moore's correspondence, newspaper clippings, and reprints.

Henry Lester Smith was a long-time professor and administrator at the Indiana University School of Education. In addition to teaching and other administrative positions, Smith served as the dean of the School of Education from 1916 until his retirement in 1946. Throughout his life and career, Smith served in a variety of other roles including as Superintendent of Schools in the Canal Zone, as an active member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, as chair of the local Red Cross chapter, as an active member of the National Education Association, and as Secretary-General of the World Federation of Education Associations. This collection consists largely of correspondence relative to his national and international educational work, materials developed in connection with his teaching, and research materials and writings in his main interest areas of international education, school administration, and character education.

David Andrew Rothrock was a professor of mathematics at Indiana University from 1892 to 1937 and Director of Admissions from 1937-1938. The collection consists of manuscripts of published materials, teaching materials, notebooks kept while he was a student at the University of Chicago and Leipzig University, and one piece of correspondence The teaching materials include mathematical computations and exercises, writings about theories, notes from specific classes he taught, and student papers from a seminar.

James A. Woodburn was a long time professor of history at Indiana University. The collection consists of the correspondence, personal items, and publications of James A. Woodburn and is organized into four series.

Albert L. Kohlmeier was an Indiana University alumnus and professor. Collection is comprised of the papers of Prof. Kohlmeier and family and consists of correspondence, publications, lectures, Lucie Kohlmeier's travel diary from a European trip taken in 1926, and genealogical information about the Kohlmeier family.

The Woodburn family first settled in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1830, having relocated from Chester County, South Carolina. This collection consists of personal correspondence and other material of family members of James Albert Woodburn (1856-1943), a professor of history at Indiana University (1890-1924), including his father James Woodburn, wife Caroline Gelston Woodburn, brothers Walter E. and Theophilus Wylie Woodburn, son James Gelston Woodburn, and granddaughter Janet Wiecking. Collection materials date from 1848-1978 and notably include Caroline Gelston Woodburn's letters describing her experiences as a new member of the Bloomington and Indiana University communities in the early 1890s, and a photocopy of James Gelston Woodburn's diary ("My Trip Abroad"), which documents his trip to Europe in 1911-1912.
