Background

Biographical / Historical:

The Indianapolis Peace and Justice Center was formed in 1982, both as an umbrella group for peace activists, and as an organization that wanted to make a mark in its own right. The organization has staged numerous anti-war protests on Monument Circle in Indianapolis and has created an ongoing Friday afternoon protest at the Federal Building since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. They have also published the Indianapolis Peace and Justice Journal and recorded Peace Works, a public access television show, from 1984-1996.

Scope and Content:

The collection contains two series: the Indianapolis Peace and Justice Journal and Peace Works. The Indianapolis Peace and Justice Journal contains the physical copies of the IPJC's publication from 1983-2014 that are now available digitally. The Peace Works series contains the U-Matic cassettes that contain the public access television show. These cassettes are currently being digitized and will be available online after scanning is completed.
