Collections

The Philippine mss. II, 1594-1908, consists of accounts of the lives and deaths of various saints and other religious figures, copies of royal decrees, correspondence, government and military reports, historical accounts, maps, wills and inventories of estates, and a water-color painting.

The Philippine mss. consist of original documents and transcripts relating to the Philippine Islands and the Spanish Roman Catholic missions in East Asia.

The Petersen mss., 1781-1935, is a collection of letters from thirty-nine British writers to various friends and associates.

The Parker mss., 1264-1871, consist of commonplace books, legal records, account books, volumes on heraldry, rhetoric and logic, genealogy, sermons, political tracts, a diary, gazetteer and a jest book in verse.

The Palafox mss., 1639-1658, consist of documents and correspondence signed by and related to Juan de Palafox y Mendoza, a major figure of the Mexican Colonial era.

The Nordloh mss. consist of over 100 American and English letters, postcards, autographs, and notes spanning the years 1792-1947.

The Niles mss., 1765-1916, are the law office papers and family correspondence of John Barron Niles, 1808-1879, lawyer of LaPorte, Indiana.

The Near Eastern mss., 700-1915, consist of a collection of individually acquired manuscripts pertaining to the region formerly known as the Near East, now referred to as the Middle East.

The Mutis Daza mss., 1568-1936, except for a small portion, were assembled by Eduardo Posada, 1862- , historian and bibliographer, for Camilo Mutis Daza. Included are a number of outstanding items on Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela during the wars of independence.

The Music mss., 1755-1974, consist of various items related to music acquired by gift or purchase at various times.
