The Indiana University Apartment and Family Student Council was established at Indiana University in 1967 under the name the Married Students' Council. The organization underwent two name changes throughout its history: in 1978 it became the Family Student Council, and circa 2004 it became the Apartment and Family Student Council. The organization's mission was to foster community and host engaging programming for married students residing with their families on or around campus. The collection consists of materials dated between 1957 and 2013, including meeting minutes; agendas; publications; financial records; correspondence with other key organizations on campus; documentation of various subcommittees; and materials pertaining to topics such as community activities, campus developments, and childcare.

The Research Center for Language and Semiotic Studies (RCLSS) was initially founded by Herman B Wells in 1955 as the Research Center for Anthropology, Folklore, and Linguistics; it was renamed the Research Center for Language and Semiotic Studies in 1975. RCLSS evolved and grew rapidly under the direction of Thomas A. Sebeok, who served as Chairperson from 1956 through his retirement in 1991. The Center's primary functions included research, publishing, teaching, and the advancement of institutional connections in the interdisciplinary field of semiotics. This collection contains administrative records, student files, undergraduate and graduate curriculum development materials, committee reports and records, course files, and issues of the RCLSS in-house periodical Language Sciences.

Jon Michael "Mike" Dunn (1941-2021) was an active faculty member and administrator at Indiana University, Bloomington from 1969-2007. Dunn started his career at IU in the Department of Philosophy and was additionally named a professor in the Department of Computer Science in 1989. He was also the first executive associate dean for the College of Arts and Sciences 1988-1993 and the founding dean of the School of Informatics 1999-2007. This collection represents Dunn's work across his career, including activities at IU and research and publishing activities related to relevance logics and algebraic approaches.

Jacob Ammen (1806-1894) was a professor and military officer for the Union army during the American Civil War. After graduating from West Point and serving in the military, he taught at various institutions of higher education, including Indiana University, where he served as professor and chair of the Mathematics Department from 1840 to 1843. Following his teaching career, he returned to military service after the outbreak of the Civil War, attaining to the rank of Brigadier General. This collection consists of correspondences, personal writings, and military artifacts kept by Ammen throughout his academic and military career from 1835 through 1865.

The first president of what was then Indiana College was elected by the Board of Trustees in 1829. Joseph L. Sutton came to IU as an instructor in the Dept. of Political Science in 1955 and continued to advance until he came to serve as the thirteenth president of Indiana University from 1968-1971. The collection consists of records created or collected during Sutton's tenure as Indiana University president.

Student government at Indiana University was officially formed in April 1948 due in large part to the influence of IU President Herman B Wells. Following a series of name changes, student government in 1973 became known as the Indiana University Student Association (IUSA). In 2019 they changed their name again to Indiana University Student Government (IUSG). This collection consists of the records of the IUSA including: Meeting minutes and agendas; resolutions; administrative files; records of the IUSA President , Vice-President for Senate/ Congress, Vice- President for Administration, Treasurer and the Supreme Court; association, committee and department files; and issue, project and subject files. These records primarily cover the period from 1973-2010.

The Wylie family represented in this collection are all family members or descendents of Indiana University's first president, Andrew Wylie. Many of the earliest family members were closely associated with the university themselves. The collection includes correspondence, financial records, newspaper clippings, obituaries, academic records, journals, scrapbooks, drawings, and poetry. In addition to family affairs, the collection includes information about Indiana University and Bloomington, Indiana, including land deeds and a 19th century account book from Bloomington's McCalla store.

Since its opening in the Biology Building (formerly Jordan Hall) on January 1, 1998, the Life Sciences Library has provided research materials and services to students of the Biology Department, the Medical Sciences Program, and the Nursing Program. In late 2019, the Life Sciences Library was absorbed into the newly formed Sciences Library, which more broadly covers the sciences at Indiana University Bloomington. This collection includes administrative files and correspondence, handouts and minutes from conferences and working group meetings, and published reports.

Sally Lied received her M.S. in Education from Indiana University in 1963, her Ed.D in 1972 and J.D. in 1974. She also worked for the university as a residential counselor at Foster Quadrangle and later director of the Foster Project. This collection includes materials pertaining to social movements and residential programs at IU in the late 1960s, as well as materials from Robert F. Kennedy's presidential campaign in 1968.

William Lowe Bryan served as president of Indiana University 1902-1937. This collection consists almost entirely of incoming correspondence from the years 1913-1937. The files are arranged alphabetically, most often by the correspondent's surname, but also by subject or by name of the institution or department. The majority of the correspondence is addressed to Bryan but much of it is also addressed to other high ranking IU administrators such as Registrar John W. Cravens or University Secretary Ulysses Howe Smith.

The Cultural Studies Program was established circa 1992 and promotes interdisciplinary research with a focus on the relationship between cultural forms and power relations in society. The Cultural Studies Program records spans 1995-2012 and documents various aspects of the program's administration, including budgeting, funding, course scheduling, and staffing, as well as conferences and other events organized by the program.

This collection largely reflects the results of research conducted by the Indiana University Department of Astronomy at the Goethe Link Observatory and the Daniel Kirkwood Observatory. The collection discusses equipment and instruments relevant to their work, topics related to the observatories, papers related to the Conference on Red Giant Stars/Cool Star Conference, publications, record books containing collected data, and files about select faculty.

Francis West Gravit was a professor in Indiana University's Department of French and Italian from 1948 through 1975 and was known for his research on French Seventeenth-century literature. The collection consists of biographical materials and Gravit's publications. Biographical materials include correspondence relating to Gravit's appointments, various university service awards, and a 1926 journal in which he recounts his student experiences at Oberlin College.

This collection consists of the family papers of Indiana University alumni John and Hilda Jay. The collection primarily consists of correspondence between John, Hilda, and family or friends largely spanning 1939-2002; personal files containing educational materials, a journal, and a scrapbook; as well as several home movies from circa 1939-1946.

The first president of what was then Indiana College was elected by the Board of Trustees in 1829. Elvis J. Stahr, Jr. served as president of Indiana University from 1962-1968. Collection consists of records created or collected by the Indiana University Office of the President during Elvis Stahr's tenure, and includes correspondence, studies, and reports documenting the various administrative processes, committees, events and university departments and schools during this period.

The Academic Computing Policy Committee (ACPC) formally represented the instructional and research computer-user community at Indiana University from circa 1987-1998. This collection consists of the personal committee files of Ann Bristow, who served on the Bloomington campus ACPC from 1987-1997.

Lynn M. Jamieson was an active faculty member at Indiana University, Bloomington from 1983 to 2018. Jamieson joined the Indiana University Department of Recreation and Park Administration as an Associate Professor, then was promoted to full professorship in 2001 and later became chair of the renamed Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism, among other administrative responsibilities. This collection represents research materials collected by Jamieson as well as her professional activity at IU.

Myles Brand (1942-2009) was a philosopher and academic administrator who served as the sixteenth president of Indiana University (IU) from 1994 to 2002. Following his appointment at IU, Brand served as the sixth president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) from 2003 until his death in 2009. This collection contains publications, correspondence, audiovisual media, recording transcripts, and awards from Myles Brand, with a particular focus on his time spent at IU and the NCAA.

Herman B Wells was named interim president in 1937 and president in 1938, a position he held until 1962. Collection consists primarily of correspondence, reports, and publications. A particularly rich collection, correspondence is to and from Wells and other high ranking university administrators. The files are arranged alphabetically.

The Kabul University Administration Program focused on improving the administrative structure, leadership, and business practices of Kabul University in Kabul, Afghanistan. Additional goals included revamping student services and activities offices, refining account management practices, improving conditions for female students, and further developing the university library's collections. The project was administered by the Office of Research and Advanced Studies and funded through a grant from USAID from 1966-1972.
