Denis Sinor was a faculty member of Indiana University in the Uralic and Altaic Program (now the Department of Central Eurasian Studies) from 1962 to 2011. Sinor founded the Department of Uralic and Altaic Studies in 1965 and the Asian Studies Research Institute for Inner Asian Studies (now the Sinor Research Institute for Inner Asian Studies [RIFIAS]), both of which he served as director for until his retirement from IU in 1986. He was active in many organizations during his tenure at Indiana University, most significantly the Journal of Asian History (JAH), Permanent International Altaistic Conference (PIAC), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and National Defense Education Act (NDEA). This collection consists of Sinor's correspondence with various organizations, IU, and personal contacts.

Before becoming president of Indiana University, Herman B Wells served as an assistant cashier at the National Bank of Lebanon before going on to work for the Indiana Bankers Association, the Indiana Commission for Financial Institutions, and the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions. He was named dean of the Indiana University School of Business administration in 1935 by IU President William Lowe Bryan. In 1937 he was named acting president of the university and president the following year, a position he held until 1962. Upon his retirement, IU created the position of University Chancellor, which Dr. Wells held until his death in 2000. This collection consists of Wells' personal papers and includes papers pertaining to his family and personal finances, his activities in the banking profession, his work in Germany for the United States government after World War II, and to his research and teaching and professional activities as a member of the faculty of Indiana University.

Arthur Reed Hogue was an Indiana University professor of history, 1950-1974. His papers consists of correspondence, research materials, publications, committee files, speeches, and course materials. Prominent in the collection are Hogue's files related to a book he edited entitled Charles Sumner, an Essay by Carl Schurz as well as Hogue's Origins of the Common Law.

A. Peter Brown served as a member of the musicology faculty at the Indiana University School of Music from 1974 until his death in 2003. Brown's name is most closely associated with that of the composer Josef Haydn, on whom Brown wrote and co-authored no less than four books, as well as the critical score for Haydn's Die Schöpfung. Representing the whole of his scholarly career, this collection includes materials from Brown's time as a doctoral student, and as a scholar and teacher, comprised of correspondence, teaching files, grants materials, and research and writing files. Brown's research files make up the bulk of the collection.

The Regional Campus Coordinating Committee was established in 1966. It was composed of two administrative officers and one faculty member from both Indiana and Purdue Universities and was responsible for reviewing all regional campus program proposals and passing on its recommendations to the Trustees Joint Policy Council. Collection consists of meeting minutes, correspondence, proposals, reports, and research files.

The Indiana University Office of Publications is one of the oldest non-academic offices on campus. Its records date primarily from the tenure of Ivy Leone Chamness, who served as Head Editor of University Publications from 1917-1952. Collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, and newspaper clippings. Prominent in the collection are edited manuscripts of the two volume History of Indiana University written by Burton Dorr Myers and James A. Woodburn.

James H. Rudy was an Indiana University alumnus who was granted an AB in English in 1932. In his will Rudy left the bulk of his estate to Indiana University, which was used to begin and fund the Rudy Professorships to attract and retain outstanding faculty. Collection consists of papers brought together after Rudy's death by the Owensboro, Kentucky law firm Wilson and Wilson, who represented Rudy's friends and lawyer when his sister, Sarah Gray Rudy McNulty, contested his will. Collection includes notes, correspondence, journals and ledgers, depositions, and legal papers. The depositions include Rudy's family and friends in addition to Indiana University Vice President and Treasurer Joseph A. Franklin. Prominent correspondents include Rudy's mother-in-law Grace Blair, his mother Katherine F. Rudy, his sister Sarah McNulty, and family friends Linda and Charles Boswell.

Richard S. Westfall was a professor of History, History of Science, and Philosophy of Science at Indiana University from 1963 to 1989. The collection consists of research notes, copies of published works, lecture notes, and class notes related to Richard S. Westfall's research on the scientific revolution in Europe, especially his biography of Newton. Also includes material on Galileo, mechanics, dynamics, and related topics. Includes a small amount of biographical and family material.

John Henry Mueller was a Professor of Sociology on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington for thirty years, from 1935-1965, Chairman of the Sociology Department and the Chairman for the Convocations Committee. While classified as a Sociology professor, Professor Mueller's expertise also extended to the arts (particularly music), and into the disciplines of Philosophy, Psychology, Linguistics, and History. This broad scope of interests is reflected in his papers and range from his college days until the time of his death in 1965. The collection is comprised of four series: Biographical and Personal Information, Correspondence, Writings of John Mueller and finally Research notes, Classroom Material, and Committee Files.

In 1937, historian Oscar O. Winther joined the history faculty of Indiana University, where he remained until his death in 1970. Winther's areas of expertise included the Western United States, including the Pacific Northwest. Included in this collection are publications, teaching files, correspondence, and files related to professional activities.

The Wylie family represented in this collection are all family members or descendents of Indiana University's first president, Andrew Wylie. Many of the earliest family members were closely associated with the university themselves. The collection includes correspondence, financial records, newspaper clippings, obituaries, academic records, journals, scrapbooks, drawings, and poetry. In addition to family affairs, the collection includes information about Indiana University and Bloomington, Indiana, including land deeds and a 19th century account book from Bloomington's McCalla store.

David Andrew Rothrock was a professor of mathematics at Indiana University from 1892 to 1937 and Director of Admissions from 1937-1938. The collection consists of manuscripts of published materials, teaching materials, notebooks kept while he was a student at the University of Chicago and Leipzig University, and one piece of correspondence The teaching materials include mathematical computations and exercises, writings about theories, notes from specific classes he taught, and student papers from a seminar.

Howard Gest was a professor of Microbiology and an adjunct professor of History and Philosophy of Science at Indiana University who specialized in microbial psychology and metabolism. The collection consists of Gest's published work, research notes, correspondence and his teaching and lecturing notes during his tenure at Indiana University.

The concept for the Center for Excellence in Education was proposed in 1982 at Indiana University. The Center was created to provide training to educators on using technology within the classroom, and to advance the research of new educational technologies. This collection consists of files regarding the funding for the Center for Excellence in Education and plans for numerous projects.

Musician and conductor Frank St. Leger was a professor of music at Indiana University from 1953-1968. Prior to accepting the teaching position at IU, St. Leger held a number of noteworthy positions in the music and entertainment business, including a teaching position at the Royal Academy of Music in London, accompanist for top performers such as Austrialian soprano Nellie Melba, and musical advisor for the Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation. Collection focuses largely on St. Leger's music career prior to teaching at Indiana University and includes correspondence, notes and ideas for lectures and musical productions, recorded music lectures, and newspaper clippings. Prominent in the collection is St. Leger's correspondence with Spyros P. Skouras, president of Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation, regarding St. Leger's ideas for musical programs.

T. James Crawford was a Professor Emeritus of Business and Education at Indiana University. He published many text books but is best known for his co-authored work on typing, 20th Century Typewriting. The collection consists primarily of his teaching materials as well as correspondence, records related to professional activities, and publishing.

The Indiana University Trustees serve as the governing board of the university. Created in 1820, the current Board meets six times per year. Among the Board's powers are their capacity to possess all the real and personal property of the university; to expend the income of the university; and to all bylaws necessary to carry these powers into effect. The minutes in this collection include official acts, resolutions, policies, agreements, and other business pertaining to the governance of Indiana University between 1838-1859 and 1883-2017.

Collection consists of .8 cubic feet of records from the IDPYC spanning 1970-1982. These records were deposited in the Archives by Myrtle Scott, who served as director of the program for most of its existence. It includes administrative files, reviews, meeting minutes, and conference files.

E. Ross Bartley worked in public relations for Indiana University, U.S. Vice President Charles G. Dawes, and presidential candidate Alf M. Landon. Collection consists of Bartley's writings and speeches, correspondence, files related to organizations with which Bartley was involved, and newspaper clippings. Within the correspondence series, the papers dating from 1925-1928 make up the bulk of the series and primarily pertain to his career as secretary to Vice President Charles G. Dawes but does not include any correspondence with Dawes himself. Bartley's writings and speeches that are included in the collection focus primarily on college public relations.

Hubert C. Heffner was a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Speech, Theatre, and Dramatic Literature at Indiana University. After teaching at several institutions across the United States and England, he settled in Bloomington in 1955. In addition to his teaching responsibilities within the Dept. of Speech and Theatre, Heffner was acting director of the Indiana University Theatre from 1959-60 and 1970-71, and he was involved with the Indiana Theatre Circle. He retired in 1971 but continued as an occasional guest lecturer at IUB until his death in 1985. The collection consists of lecture notes, classroom handouts and teaching aids, Heffner's correspondence and personal writings, book reviews written by Heffner and files on various organizations to which he belonged throughout his career. Prominent in the teaching materials are Heffner's files on drama, especially American drama, and individual playwrights.
