Collections

The Wrancher, Elizabeth mss., 1943-2002, consist of correspondence, photographs, printed material, and personal ephemera related to opera singer Elizabeth Wrancher.

The Hlavatý mss. II, 1942-1969, contains the correspondence, writings, speeches, and printed materials of mathematician and Indiana University Bloomington mathematics professor Václav Hlavatý, 1894-1969.

The Willis mss., 1942-1945, consist of letters and documents of Hugh Evander Willis, 1875-1967, professor of law at Indiana University, dealing with Professor Willis' plan for achieving lasting peace through a federation of the world and with his proposals for the constitution of the United Nations.

The Lockridge mss. II, 1941-1975, consists primarily of correspondence from author Ross Franklin Lockridge, Jr., 1914-1948, to various individuals. The Lilly Library acquired these letters to complement the manuscript files for Lockridge's book, Raintree County. Many of the letters discuss the success of Raintree County as well as Lockridge's untimely death.

The Lockridge mss., 1941-1947, consists of the writings of author Ross Franklin Lockridge, Jr., 1914-1948, including the manuscripts of The Dream of the Flesh of Iron and Raintree County.

The Baatz mss., 1940-2010, consists of correspondence from prominent literary and political figures to librarian Wilmer Henry Baatz, 1915-1991.

The Langer mss., 1940-1976, consist of the professional papers and reprints of Lawrence Marvin Langer, 1913-2000, physicist and Professor Emeritus of Physics at Indiana University.

The Robbins mss. II, 1937-1985, consist of the papers of Indiana University English professor J. Albert Robbins (1914-1992).

The Indiana University Library mss., 1937-1981, consists of the files of Bernard Campbell Gavit, 1893-1954, relating to his tenure as chairman of the Indiana University Library Committee, 1937-1942; the administrative files of former IU Bloomington Librarian Cecil Kash Byrd, 1913-1997; the administrative files of former IU Libraries Librarian Robert Alexander Miller, 1907-1989; and the administrative files, 1969-1981, of former assistant director for collection development, Wilmer Baatz, 1915-1991.

The Parker, W.R. mss., 1937-1968, consist of the correspondence, writings and research notes of Milton scholar and Indiana University Professor of English William Riley Parker, 1906-1968.
