The Kizer, C. mss., 1825-2006, bulk 1945-2004, consists of the papers, photographs, and memorabilia of poet Carolyn Kizer, 1925-2004.

The Lane, J. mss. II, 1825-1960, consist of correspondence and papers of politician Joseph Lane and his family.

Ecuadorian Imprints, 1825-1849, consists of broadsides, periodicals, and pamphlets from the Mendel Collection.

Chase C. Mooney was a professor of history at Indiana University. After receiving his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1939, Chase Curran Mooney began his teaching career at Brenau College in 1939. In 1946 he joined the history faculty at Indiana University, where he remained until his death in 1973. As a distinguished member of the faculty, Mooney participated in numerous history department committees and successfully worked to bring the Journal of American History to IU in 1963. With research interests focusing upon African Americans, the U.S. Civil War, and the history of the American South, he produced numerous book reviews, articles, and two major monographs, Slavery in Tennessee in 1957 and William H. Crawford, 1772-1834 which was released posthumously in 1974. Mooney's papers contain student files, correspondence, research and manuscripts relating to his publications, including Slavery in Tennessee and William H. Crawford, teaching files, files relating to committees at Indiana University, and subject files all relating primarily to his work as a professor and to his research interests.

The Cammack mss. consists of letters and documents, 1823-1894, of the Cammack and Robinson families, Quakers in Indiana.

The Hadley, J. mss., 1823-1891, consists of notes written by farmer Joshua B. Hadley, 1808-1831, and items related to the work of teacher Bertha Wiley Hadley, 1866-1944.

The Wylie family represented in this collection are all family members or descendents of Indiana University's first president, Andrew Wylie. Many of the earliest family members were closely associated with the university themselves. The collection includes correspondence, financial records, newspaper clippings, obituaries, academic records, journals, scrapbooks, drawings, and poetry. In addition to family affairs, the collection includes information about Indiana University and Bloomington, Indiana, including land deeds and a 19th century account book from Bloomington's McCalla store.

The Holman Family mss., 1822-1965, consists of the correspondence, legal documents, clippings, photos, and other materials related to the family of Pamela Dean Holman Harvey, her husband Frederick Loviad Harvey, and her daughter Abigail Holman Harvey (Villaret).

The Holman mss., 1822-1894, consist of the papers and correspondence of Richard Henry Holman, 1817-1841, lawyer, written chiefly during his attendance at Indiana College at Bloomington; of his father, Jesse Lynch Holman, 1784-1842, judge; and of his brother-in-law, Allen Hamilton, 1798-1864, Indiana state legislator, largely concerned with land speculation and payments.

The Spencer County, Indiana, History mss., 1822-1861, consist primarily of legal documents related to the history of Spencer County.

The Wylie family members represented in this collection are all family or in-laws of Andrew Wylie, Jr., eldest son of Indiana University's first president, Andrew Wylie. The collection consists of correspondence written by Andrew Wylie Jr., his father, his wife, his siblings, aunts and uncles. Also included are letters written by Wylie's father-in-law, Daniel Bryan, other members of the Bryan family, and a few from other individuals.

The Owen mss., 1821-1911, consist mainly of letters and papers of Richard Owen, 1810-1890 (son of Robert Owen), professor at Indiana University, and first president of Purdue University, and his descendants.

The Dunihue mss., 1821-1899, consists of papers of Alexander H. Dunihue, 1807-1891, merchant of Bedford, Ind., and his brother, Daniel R. Dunihue, 1812-1887, cashier of the Bedford branch of the Indiana State Bank and operator of a summer resort at Indian Springs, eighteen miles west of Bedford.

The Williams, K.P. mss., 1820-1958, consists of letters and papers of Kenneth Powers Williams, 1887-1958, professor of mathematics at Indiana University and author of Lincoln Finds a General.

The Starling mss., 1820-1927, are letters, illustrations, and writings by Hugh Clifford, Joseph Conrad, George Cruikshank, Charles Lever, and William Makepeace Thackeray, collected by Kenyon Law Starling, 1905-1983, businessman, of Dayton, Ohio.

The Howe mss., 1820-1915, consists chiefly of deeds belonging to the family of Joshua Owen Howe, 1784-1870, merchant of Bloomington in Monroe County, Indiana, and frequently concerned with sale of lots in the town.

Andrew Wylie assumed the position as the first president of Indiana College in 1829. He died on 11 November 1851 of pneumonia, which he developed after accidentally cutting his leg while chopping wood. The collection is comprised of correspondence files, speeches, and administrative files from Wylie's presidential tenure.

Before becoming president of Indiana University, Herman B Wells served as an assistant cashier at the National Bank of Lebanon before going on to work for the Indiana Bankers Association, the Indiana Commission for Financial Institutions, and the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions. He was named dean of the Indiana University School of Business administration in 1935 by IU President William Lowe Bryan. In 1937 he was named acting president of the university and president the following year, a position he held until 1962. Upon his retirement, IU created the position of University Chancellor, which Dr. Wells held until his death in 2000. This collection consists of Wells' personal papers and includes papers pertaining to his family and personal finances, his activities in the banking profession, his work in Germany for the United States government after World War II, and to his research and teaching and professional activities as a member of the faculty of Indiana University.

The Blake mss., 1819-1958, consists of letters and documents relating to the Holman family of Aurora, IN.

Consists of letters and papers of Charles Warren Fairbanks, 1852-1918, U.S. senator from Indiana and vice president (1905-1909), and his son, Warren Charles Fairbanks, 1878-1938, newspaper publisher. The Charles Warren Fairbanks material, which comprises the bulk of the collection, consists of correspondence with prominent political figures, businessmen, bankers, friends, relatives and constituents; manuscript and printed speeches of Fairbanks; law office papers; bills and receipts; miscellaneous papers; newspaper clippings; invitations; calling cards; pictures; slides of Fairbanks's trip around the world, 1909-1910; and miscellaneous printed matter. The Warren Charles Fairbanks papers, 1918-1938, relate to the settlement of the estate of his father, Charles Warren Fairbanks; the Indianapolis News; the Fairbanks Blue ridge farms in Piatt County, Illinois; and the Fairbanks Valley farms in Greene County, Illinois.

Collection contains various scrapbooks, publications, yearbooks, reports, and a small amount of correspondence relating to Bloomington, Indiana, and Monroe County.
