This collection contains material created and collected by Robert Elisha Burke. Burke became a professor at Indiana University shortly after his graduation from the Pratt Institute in New York. He completed work for his A.B. and M.A. while teaching. In 1921 he became the head of the Fine Arts Department and held that position until 1941. Included are lecture notes, travel notes, some personal information, three bound volumes consisting of lectures, paintings, and other representations of his work, and an album containing photos and postcards of his U.S. travels. The majority of the materials relate to his teaching career at I.U.

Kathleen McKee Butts attended IU Bloomington from 1918-1921, though she did not complete her degree. The bulk of materials included are her writings, which consist of radio scripts, stories, and editorials published in the Plainfield Messenger circa 1934. Personal materials consist mainly of items retained by Butt's father, Dr. Joseph Fennell McKee, and are comprised of correspondence, legal documents, newspaper clippings, and pocket-sized notebooks. Much of the information in these records pertains to Dr. McKee, his wife Irene Sullivan McKee and her father John E. Sullivan, and the subsequent legal proceedings and personal issues involving their divorce and custody of their child Kathleen.

John Henry Mueller was a Professor of Sociology on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington for thirty years, from 1935-1965, Chairman of the Sociology Department and the Chairman for the Convocations Committee. While classified as a Sociology professor, Professor Mueller's expertise also extended to the arts (particularly music), and into the disciplines of Philosophy, Psychology, Linguistics, and History. This broad scope of interests is reflected in his papers and range from his college days until the time of his death in 1965. The collection is comprised of four series: Biographical and Personal Information, Correspondence, Writings of John Mueller and finally Research notes, Classroom Material, and Committee Files.

Maurice Gilbert Gurin (1911-1990), was nearly 50 years old in 1959 when he made the career change from public relations to fund raising. Gurin incorporated new and innovative fund raising methods with more traditional techniques and in only 12 years rose from free-lancer fund raising to president of a fund raising firm with offices in New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. He continued over the next 30 years to seek creative new answers to old questions, using imaginative new approaches to fund raising focused on individual client needs and making the fund raising plan fit the client rather than the client fit the fund raising plan. The papers consist of correspondence, speeches, published materials, client feasibility studies, and client files.
