Martha Jeannette Vicinus was a faculty member of the Indiana University English Department from 1968-1982. Her papers comprise 1 cubic foot and span the period of 1971-1980. Consists largely of newsletters, flyers, pamphlets, minutes, form letters, mass mailings, interdepartmental memos, and a small amount of personal correspondence relating to the activities of American Federation of Teachers Bloomington local, women's movement in Bloomington, the creation of Women's Studies program at Indiana University, and the Modern Language Association Radical Caucus. Items are arranged chronologically within each series.

Henry B. Veatch, Jr. was a Professor of Philosophy at IU from 1937-1965. Collection consists of his personal papers and writings on such topics as Aristotle, natural law, metaphysics, and ethics. There are five series: Correspondence, 1941-1997, containing correspondence to and from colleagues; Speaking engagements, 1971-1988, containing copies of his public lectures and addresses; Class notes, 1966-1984, containing class lectures, handouts, reading lists, and exams; St. Meinrad group, 1985-1996, containing notes, correspondence, and papers of discussion group formed by Veatch and colleagues; and Writings by or about Veatch, 1941-1993, containing typescripts and publications by Veatch and also reviews of three of Veatch's books.

The Vawter mss., 1919-1922, consists of those paintings prepared by John William "Will" Vawter, 1871-1941, Indiana artist, for illustrating The Youth of James Whitcomb Riley and The Maturity of James Whitcomb Riley by John Marcus Dickey.

The Vasquez, Richard E. mss., 1960-1990, consists of the papers of Chicano author and journalist Richard E. Vasquez, 1928-1990.

Leon Varjian (1951-2015) was a graduate student at Indiana University from 1972-1975, known primarily for his comedic news publications such as Fun City and his organized antics on the IU campus. He ran for mayor of Bloomington in 1975 and IU Trustee in 1976, though his campaign platforms were humorous and satirical. After his time in Bloomington, Varjian attended University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he continued similar political theatre antics and produced a successful local access cable television show called Vern & Evelyn through 1984. This collection contains his personal papers, including documents and memorabilia from his mayoral campaign, flyers from his social events, notes and drafts, newspapers and clippings, and correspondence, and materials from Vern & Evelyn.

The Von Tress mss., 1916-1993, consists of photocopies of manuscripts, pictures, records, letters, and published articles drawn from a memory book of Edward Campbell Von Tress, 1899-1976, an alumnus of Indiana University who helped head the university's Memorial Fund as Alumni Secretary.

The Custer mss., 1876-1933, consists of a copy of the Proceedings of the Court of Inquiry, January 13, 1879, in the case of Major Marcus A. Reno concerning his conduct at the Battle of the Little Big Horn River, 1876.

The Cycling mss., ca. 1879-1978, consists of materials pertaining to the growth of bicycling and the bicycling industry in the late-19th and early-20th century.

The Yanez mss. collection consists of historical documents pertaining to Colonial Ecuador.

Betty van der Smissen was an alumna of the University of Kansas and Indiana University and an educator, writer, and consultant in the field of outdoor recreation and risk management. Contents of this collection date from 1954 through 2008 and consist mainly of teaching material such as course syllabi, correspondence, readings, and exams; research and drafts of publications; handbooks and self-assesment material for park and recreation agency accreditations; and material related to van der Smissen's participation in professional organizations and conferences.

The Uriarte mss., 1729-1790, consists primarily of the correspondence of Manuel Joaquín Uriarte, 1720-1802, and his diary of missionary life in the province of Mainas.

The Urbánek mss., 1887-1914, consists of letters from composers Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky, 1840-1893, and Giacomo Puccini, 1858-1924, to Velebín Urbánek, 1853-1902, of Prague.

The Unthank mss., 1867-1924, consists of copies of papers of Oliver N. Unthank, 1842-1928, a telegraph operator at Fort Laramie, Wyoming.

The Untermeyer mss. II, 1919-1935, consists of a roll of negative microfilm of letters from author Louis Untermeyer, 1885- 1977, to author John Gould Fletcher, 1886-1950, from the originals in the University of Arkansas Library in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The University Women's Club was established at Indiana University on April 24, 1913, under the name of the Faculty Women's Club. The goal of the club was to hold social gatherings for members. In 1959 the group changed its name to the University Women's Club to avoid further confusion with the Women's Faculty Club. The collection consists of meeting minutes and reports, subject files and scrapbooks.

The University School was a K-12 laboratory school that was founded in 1938 by Indiana University and the School City of Bloomington (later Monroe County Community School Corporation). This collection contains volumes of the Jordannus, a yearbook produced by the middle and high schools, dating from 1939-1979.

Collection consists of records generated between 1954 and 1993 by University Computing Services. The Research Computing Center was established in 1954 and evolved into the Marshal H. Wrubel Center in 1973 and after 1981 University Computing Services. The collection is organized in three series. The Director's correspondence series consists almost entirely of outgoing correspondence from the director's office, arranged chronologically. Directors represented in the collection include the Center's first directors, Lynne Merritt and Marshal H. Wrubel as well as subsequent directors. The Minutes series, arranged chronologically, consists of minutes of the senior staff meetings and the final series, Reports, contains UCS's annual reports from 1958-59 through 1992-93. Also included in the series are the proceedings of an annual conference on instructional and academic computer applications which UCS helped organize, reports from the Research Computing Center Committee, reports submitted to the National Science Foundation in support of grant applications, and study reports on instructional computing. The series is arranged alphabetically.

The University Club was established at Indiana University in 1959 by combining four older Indiana University clubs: the Men's Faculty Club (established in 1912), the University Women's Club (originally titled the Faculty Women's Club when established in 1913, renamed in 1959), the Women's Faculty Club (established in 1923), and the Newcomer's Club (originally part of the University Women's Club). From 1959 until 1988, the University Club acted as an umbrella organization for the four separate clubs it contained. In this structure each individual club pursued its own programs and also participated in University Club programs. Starting in 1989, however, all programs developed by the four separate clubs have been listed under the rubric of the University Club and have been open to all members of the University Club. The goals of the University Club are to organize and implement social and cultural events.

IV, 1927-2011, consists of books, pamphlets, and research related to the United Nations, the environment, and generalized politics, as well as copies of World Federalist Association annual reports, the World Federalist News magazine, and miscellaneous related awards and conferences materials.

The United World Federalists mss. V, 1947-1974, consists of materials from international conferences, various publications, and individuals associated with the organization, including Garry Davis and Charles Heywood.

The United States War Production Board mss., ca. 1942-1945, consist of reports and memoranda relating to various offices and activities of the War Production Board, Controller Division.

On July 15, 1942 Indiana University welcomed 200 Navy yeomen to campus to participate in the Naval Training School. In October of 1942 WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) arrived on campus for navy storekeepers training. By May 1944 the Naval Training School had trained 5008 Navy yeomen and storekeepers. The school would be closed one month later. This collection consists of manuals, syllabi, student information, naval school publications, administrative materials, and the correspondences of the education director of the Navy training school Elvin S. Eyster and Robert T. Ittner, assistant to President Herman B Wells.

The Armageddon News was a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)-planted, one-page throwaway publication for countering 'New Left' activity on college campuses, in particular at Indiana University Bloomington. The collection consists of two issues from 1969.

The United Presbyterian Church mss., 1833-1933, consists of the records of the United Presbyterian Church of Bloomington, Indiana, and its predecessors, the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, the Associate Presbyterian Church and the Reformed Presbyterian Congregation.

The Unger mss., 1968-2003, consists of the correspondence, interviews, writings, and other materials relating to Raymond and Maryanne Carver and their friendship with the Unger family.

Toyoaki Uehara (1924-1997) was a professor in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Indiana University Bloomington from 1963-1990. This collection documents Uehara's scholarly career and personal life, including his participation on university and departmental committees, research and publications related to Japanese language, literature, and mythology; development of international exchange programs; and his involvement in the Tenrikyo movement. Types of material include departmental documents, minutes and memos, program enrollment figures, research and grant proposals, and business correspondence. Also included are copies of Uehara's dissertation, publications and research materials, lectures, bibliographies, extensive personal correspondence, and paper and audiovisual Japanese language study and instruction materials.

The collection consists of posters received from several donors, which have been grouped as a single collection for convenience of both research and preservation.

The Udell mss., ca. 1966-1980, consist of political manuals and campaign literature relating primarily to the National Democratic Party and to the Democratic Party in Indiana collected by Jerry G. Udell.

The Udell Political Papers consist of a selection of office and campaign working papers and campaign memorabilia from his political and Indiana office service with Birch Bayh (1963-1973) and his work on Lee Hamilton's 1966 re-election campaign, with a few documents from his staff work for Senator Mike Gravel of Alaska (1973-1977).

The Tynan, Kenneth mss., 1939-2001, consists of manuscript diaries of director and theater personality Kenneth Tynan (1927-1980).

The Clemens, S.L. mss., 1867-1944, consists of correspondence and other materials of Samuel L. Clemens, better known as the author Mark Twain.

The Tuttle mss., 1838-1912, are papers of Elizabeth A. Tuttle, 1823?-1896, nurse and teacher of Colebrook, Ohio, and of Ira Norris Noland, 1844?- , physician, who married Hattie Tuttle, niece of Elizabeth A. Tuttle.

The Turner mss., 1936-1949, consist of letters, 1936-1945, from Sir William Rothenstein, 1872-1945, artist; John Redwood Anderson, 1883-1964, poet; and Richard Church, 1893-1972, author, to Tom Turner, 1870-1949, employee of the Bradford Post Office, Bradford, Yorkshire, England, and book collector.

The Turner, A.E. mss., 1890-1918, consist of letters to Sir Alfred Edward Turner, 1842-1918, army officer, and to Juliette Elizabeth Marie (Whiting) Lady Turner, concerning military and social matters.

Consists of letters from various authors, illustrators, painters, friends and colleagues to Andrew White Tuer, 1838-1900, and his wife, Thomasine Louisa Louttit Tuer, dealing chiefly with Field and Tuer and Leadenhall Press publications. Correspondents in the collection include Sir Walter Besant, Paul Blouët (Max O'Rell), Walter Crane, Joseph Crawhall, Sir Frank Dicksee, Robinson Duckworth, John Galsworthy, Jerome K. Jerome, Charles Samuel Keene, Joseph Knight, Andrew Lang, John Leighton, Norman MacColl, Alice Meynell, Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie, Harry Quilter, Sir John Richard Robinson, John Ruskin, Edward Linley Sambourne, and Sir Owen Seaman. Topics of discussion, in addition to specific publications, include antiquarian books, engravings, and engraving techniques, and activities of other artists and writers. Several of the letters, particularly those of Joseph Crawhall, enclose woodblock prints, pen and ink drawings, and delicate engravings.

The Tuer mss. II consists of letters and documents, ca. 1890-1898, relating to Andrew Tuer and the Leadenhall Press.

The Tucker, W. D. mss., ca. 1863-1864, consist of a Confederate Army sword and scabbard; his inscribed copy of "(A) manual of military surgery, prepared for the use of the Confederate States Army," presented to him by Surgeon A.J. Foard, Medical Director of the Army of Tennessee; and a daguerreotype tintype of Tucker.

Papers, photographs, music manuscripts of original jazz and classical compositions, sound recordings and videos documenting the career of jazz pianist Mickey Tucker.

William V. S. Tubman (1895-1971), Liberia's longest serving President, served from 1944–1971. Tubman's presidency was marked by great changes in the economy, politics and social environment of Liberia. The materials in the collection include papers from the years of Tubman's presidency, his personal correspondence and memorabilia from Tubman's family.

The Trollope mss., 1830-1947, consist of notebooks and a rough draft by Frances (Milton) Trollope, 1780-1863, of Domestic Manners of the Americans; notes by Donald Arthur Smalley, professor, to Domestic Manners of the Americans; and poems and memoranda of Henry Trollope, 1811-1834.

The Trevor mss. consists of letters, ca. 1964-1984, from William Trevor to his editors at Penguin Books.

The Tresler mss., 1833-1873, consist of family letters, promissory notes, receipts, deeds, etc., 1833-1862, of Jacob Tresler of Monroe County, Indiana.

The Trejo mss. consists of letters and manuscripts relating to Ernesto Trejo and Philip Trevine's translation of Jaime Sabines' Tarumba.

The Trefusis mss., 1910-1950, consist largely of the letters of Violet Trefusis, English sociatlite and author, photos taken during the latter parts of her life in France, and other items related to her life.

The Treanor mss., 1878-1941, consist of letters and papers of Walter Emanuel Treanor, 1883-1941, Indiana University alumnus and judge.

The Travers, P.L. mss., 1969, consist of seven letters relating to the Russian publication of Mary Poppins. These letters were exchanged between Pamela Lyndon Travers, 1899-1996, the author, and Boris Zakhoder, 1918-2000, poet and one of the major translators of children's literature into Russian.

The Toyoshima mss., 1966-1998, consists of audio cassette tapes of interviews conducted by Joe Toyoshima in 1966 as an oral history of Upton Sinclair. Also included are materials related to the Industrial Workers of the World.

E. Reginald Townsend (1917-1980) is best known as the man who built Liberia's Information Service. He served as Press Secretary and Chief of the Bureau (now the Department of Information, Culture and Tourism) to William V.S. Tubman, President of Liberia from 1944 to 1971, and as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs to William R. Tolbert, President of Liberia from 1971 to 1980. Townsend's wife, Evelyn Diggs Townsend (1932-2004), was involved in and led several church and women's organizations. After a coup brought down the Tolbert government and resulted in her husband's execution in 1980, she worked to attain peace in Liberia. The materials in this collection include papers from the years of Reginald Townsend's service during the Tubman and Tolbert presidencies and those from Evelyn Townsend's work in many service organizations, as well as personal correspondence and memorabilia from the Townsend family

Theodore W. Torrey, 1907-1986, was a Professor in the Zoology Department at Indiana University from 1932 until his retirement in 1972. The Theodore W. Torrey papers, comprising .4 cubic feet and spanning 1945 to 1986, consists largely unpublished manuscripts, most likely prepared for talks given at the Sunday Evening Discussion Group. Also included are several speeches, two copies of one of his publications and 2 personal items.

The Tomaszewski Photographs mss., 1943-1945, consist of copies of photographs taken by Jerzy Tomaszewski throughout World War II in Poland.

The Todd, W. mss, 1974-1977, consist of papers pertaining to Professor William Burton Todd's (1919-2011) investigation of the White House transcripts that were released by Richard Nixon on May 1, 1974.

The Todd mss., 1780-1825, consist of letters and papers of General Robert Todd, 1754-1814, of Kentucky.

William Tinsley was an architect from Dublin, Ireland; he is well-known in his profession for designing part of the original Indiana University Bloomington campus. This collection consists of a journal written by William Tinsley and two of his children, Charles and Harvey.

The Tiller mss. consists of BBC radio scripts, ca. 1963-1970, written by Terence Tiller.

Maida Tilchen is an Indiana University alumna and activist who focused on LGBTQ+ and women's rights. This collection comprises .8 cubic feet and primarily consists of Tilchen's papers and collected materials documenting her life in Bloomington, Indiana and the local social justice initiatives of the 1970s.
